King David gathered thirty thousand men to bring the Ark of God from Baale-judah to Jerusalem. The Ark was holy and represented God’s presence among the Israelites.

They placed the Ark on a new cart and brought it out of Abinadab’s house. Uzzah and his brother Ahio guided the cart as it carried the Ark.

David and all the people of Israel celebrated before the Lord with singing, dancing, and musical instruments.

But when they reached the threshing floor of Nachon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand to stop the Ark from falling.

Suddenly, God struck Uzzah down, and he died beside the Ark.

Uzzah was struck down because God had given strict instructions that the Ark was holy and must not be touched directly. Although Uzzah was trying to save it, he disobeyed God’s command.
