Google Flow’s VEO 3 model is powerful for generating short, high-quality AI videos with audio. But what if you want to go beyond the default 8-second clips and create longer videos? In this tutorial, I’ll guide you step by step on how to extend your projects and stitch together multiple scenes to produce longer content.
1. Getting Started
- Open Google Flow and log in.
- Click New Project.
- Enter your prompt (e.g., “A mysterious medieval village at night”).
- Flow will process your request in just a few seconds.
- Once ready, you’ll be able to watch your first AI-generated video.
💡 Pro Tip: Explore videos created by Flow experts for inspiration before starting your own.
2. Adding More Scenes
By default, VEO 3 generates only short clips. To build longer videos, you’ll need to add more segments. Here’s how:
- Tap on Add to Scene.
- Flow will ask you to switch to Scene Builder. Tap Switch to Scene Builder.
- Here, you can continue your video step by step by creating new connected scenes.
3. Why Not Use Extend?
Google Flow includes an Extend feature that seems like it should let you lengthen clips directly. However, with VEO 3, this feature is not yet supported.
- If you try it, Flow will suggest switching to VEO 2.
- The downside? VEO 2 offers no audio and produces lower-quality visuals, making it less ideal for cinematic results.
Instead, we’ll use a more reliable method: Frames to Video.
4. Using Frames to Video
Here’s how to create seamless continuation clips with VO3:
- Move the timeline indicator to the end of your clip.
- Tap the ➕ Save Frame as Asset button.
- Once Flow saves it as an asset, tap the image. Flow will now use this frame as the first frame of your next segment.
- Enter a new prompt describing what happens next.
- Submit it, and Flow will generate a continuation video.
Repeat this process for each new scene in your script.
5. Building a Full-Length Video
By chaining together multiple clips, you can create a much longer project:
- Use Frames to Video to ensure smooth scene transitions.
- Add as many segments as your story requires.
- Once finished, download all your clips.
- Import them into your favorite video editing software to stitch them together, adjust pacing, and add effects if needed.
Final Thoughts
While VEO 3 doesn’t yet support direct video extension, the Frames to Video method makes it possible to build longer, continuous projects with high-quality visuals and audio.
So next time you want to tell a bigger story—whether it’s a cinematic adventure or a creative experiment—Google VEO3 has the tools to bring your vision to life, one scene at a time.
