The Blind Men And The Elephant

Six blind men approached an elephant to learn about its shape. The first blind man touched the elephant’s ear and thought the animal was shaped like a fan. The second blind man felt the trunk and believed the elephant was shaped like a snake. The third blind man examined the tusk and concluded that the elephant resembled a spear. The fourth blind man touched the leg and thought it was like a tree. The fifth blind man felt the body and imagined the elephant was shaped like a wall. Finally, the sixth blind man touched the tail and believed it was like a rope. After their inspections, the blind men began to argue, each convinced that his understanding of the elephant’s shape was the correct one.
